Dr. Liza Varvogli, MA, Ph.D., is a bilingual Harvard-trained psychologist, award winning picture book author in her native Greece, and parenting seminar leader as well as parenting books author. She currently resides in Wellesley, MA, with her husband and four children.

She is a member of the SCBWI, the Writer’s Loft, and the 12X12 Challenge.

Liza has published several children’s books. One of them won the #1Picture Book of the year 2015 in the most prestigious Public Books Awards, with almost 20,000 reader votes (in a small market, about 1/100 of the US book market).

She is also the 2016 recipient of UNESCO award for her contribution to children’s mental health and literature.

One of her picture books was chosen under the auspices of the Olympics Committee as it promotes the Olympic spirit of team work, diversity and striving for excellence.

Liza often appears on TV and radio shows as an expert in psychology. She writes articles in the media (newspapers, magazines, electronic press, guest blogger) and is also active on her own social media, with 5,200 followers on her professional Face book page, over 6K views of her videos and 700+shares of her articles.

She holds an MA and Ph.D. in Psychology. She has accumulated over 10,000 hours of clinical work in the field of psychotherapy. She has extensive experience working with children, of all ages and their families. She works as a psychotherapist and her goal is to help people discover themselves, find meaning and happiness in life and live in a balanced, positive way, thriving and not just surviving.

After completing her internship and post-doctoral training at Boston’s Children’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School’s teaching hospital, she returned to Greece where she opened a busy private practice and became an adjunct professor at the Medical School of Athens University, where she taught at the graduate program “Stress Management and Health Promotion”.
