About Dr. Liza
Dr. Liza Varvogli is a renowned psychologist and author with a rich academic background. She holds an MA in School and Counseling Psychology from Tufts University and a Ph.D. in Psychology from Northeastern University. Additionally, she completed her post-doctoral training at Boston Children’s Hospital, the teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School, where she worked for ten years.
As a licensed psychologist and certified school psychologist in Massachusetts, Dr. Liza boasts extensive training in cognitive behavioral therapy, eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) therapy for trauma, stress management, mindfulness, and health and wellness coaching. With over 20,000 hours of clinical experience, she has helped numerous children and families achieve personal growth and happiness.
Dr. Liza returned to her native Greece after her training at Boston Children’s Hospital and opened a thriving private practice. She is also a professor at the Medical School of Athens University, where she teaches in the graduate program “Stress Management and Health Promotion.”.
She is also a featured speaker for UNICEF covering mental health issues of children, women, and minorities.
A best-selling parenting book author and award-winning picture book author in Greece, Dr. Liza currently resides in Wellesley, MA with her husband and four children. Her goal as a psychotherapist is to help individuals discover their true selves, find purpose and happiness, and live a balanced and positive life.
